A Pair of George III Silver Entrée dishes and covers
Mark of Thomas Robins, London, 1816
each oblong dish with a shell and leaf heightened gadrooned rim, engraved on one side with a crest and coronet, the conforming covers with a gadroon and shell motif band, with a fixed branch and leaf handle, engraved with a coat-of-arms, each piece variously engraved with numbers 2, 3 and 4 - 32cm. (12½in.) wide, 143.5oz.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Lygon quartering others with another in pretence, presumably for Deane, for William, 1st Earl Beauchamp who was born in 1747 and represented Worcester in parliament for 30 years. He was elevated to the peerage in 1806 and made Viscount Elmley and Earl Beauchamp in 1815.
