We know little about this painter, but she signed her Beauty holding an umbrella in the collection of the MOA Museum of Art, Atami, Yamazaki uji Joryu juyonsai (Joryu of the Yamazaki family, fourteen years old [thirteen by western count]). This means that she was already popular at a very young age. Her paintings became very trendy and were called Oriu-e (Oryu-style painting) in Edo.
