A comprehensive photographic record of Edward Wilson's immediate family and upbringing in Cheltenham and surroundings, 1880s-90s, including his further education at Cambridge and photographs of the British National Antarctic Expedition (Discovery), 1901, and British Antarctic Expedition (Terra Nova), 1910. The photographs include portraits of his eight brothers and sisters (Pollie, Lil, Ida, Nel, Jim, Bernard, Elsie and Gwladys), his parents (Edward Thomas and Mary Agnes), grandparents and great grandparents, uncles and aunts, photographs of the family home, Westal, in Cheltenham, and of the Crippetts, Leckhampton, Wilson at Caius College, Cambridge (1891-94), Oriana Souper (his fiancée), family holidays in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, natural history studies (birds' nests, snakes, flora, 'tongue of Blow fly' and others), studio portraits of Wilson, 'whaling in Shetlands, 1910' and of the Discovery (7) and Terra Nova expeditions (14).
