Warren Christian (maker). A wooden candlestick, the front of the octagonal body stamped 'this piece of souvenir is the handiwork of Warren Christian a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian of H.M.S. Bounty. The inlaid piece of copper is from John Mills house of Bounty fame. Pitcairn Island October 10, 1937. Son of the Chief Magistrate Edgar Christian.' within a decorated border, the body inlaid with a piece of copper stamped 'BOUNTY'S COPPER' around the circumference, a further piece of copper labelled 'FOUND ON SITE OF JOHN MILL'S HOUSE. PITCAIRN 1° CUT FROM BOLT H.M.S. BOUNTY', the candlestick 10in. (25.4cm.) high.

Lot Essay
John Mills was Gunner's Mate on the Bounty and one of the nine of the twenty-five mutineers who settled on Pitcairn. He was murdered on the island in 1793.
