Lot Essay

Henderson entered the Royal Navy in 1794, joining his father (who was Secretary to Admiral Lord Bridport) on the flagship Royal George. He was made midshipman in 1800, and Captain in 1811, serving mostly in the East Indies. Paid off in 1815, he was promoted Admiral in 1860.
