In original 'Berlin Black' finish, the standing cupid figure modelled with bow as the retaining rail, with diamond patent registration stamp numbered 933889, struck three times overall

Lot Essay

The original design, numbered 933889, was registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Iron Foundry at the Public Records Office on 15 November 1853. This umbrella stand is numbered 216 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section II, page 233.
