A CONTINENTAL GOLD-MOUNTED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOX*
Probably Tournai, circa 1765
Oval, the soft-paste porcelain body with gilt relief decoration against an underglaze blue ground, the cover with a bisque relief portrait medallion inscribed "MARIA THERESIA AUGUSTA", with two-color gold hinged mounts, the interior painted with a polychrome flowerbasket, apparently unmarked
