A pair of oval baskets in this pattern are illustrated by John C. Austin, Chelsea Porcelain at Williamsburg, Williamsburg, 1977, p. 59, no. 39, who notes that the pattern "maybe the 'twisted dragon pattern' listed in the 1755" Chelsea sale catalogue, Fifth Day's Sale, Friday, March 14, lot 37, and Sixth Day's Sale, Saturday, March 15, lot 72, each of which included a tea service and a "plate nurl'd of the twisted dragon pattern."
