The charming architectural vignettes on this table relate closely to the work of Jean-Chrysostome Stumpff, who specialized in such trompe l'oeil marquetry panels. Two other cylindrical tables by Stumpff, featuring similar vignettes, the tops with a flower-filled entrelac border as on this example, are recorded, one sold Christie's, London, 5 July 2001, lot 15 (£34,000 exc. premium), and one illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 828.
