A WESTERN ASIATIC RED STONE SCARABOID FROM THE LYRE-PLAYER GROUP
LATE 8TH CENTURY B.C.
Engraved with a standing ibex, with curved horns, a bird perched on his rump, circle and stylized plant in the field, in later swivel ring setting, 1.6 cm. long, 2.1 cm. across inner hoop; a Mesopotamian white stone stamp seal, in the form of a reclining animal, the reverse with two mouflon, in later setting, 3300-2900 B.C., 5.6 x 3.2 cm.; and a banded agate red stone scaraboid with leonine figure below cresent, in later swivel ring setting, 2.5 cm. long, 2 cm. across inner hoop (3)
