A COPTIC TEXTILE SQUARE PANEL AND CLAVUS
CIRCA 6TH-7TH CENTURY A.D.
The monochrome wool and linen square panel with a reclining naked figure in each corner, with two concentric rings, one filled with a scene of running animals including lions and panthers, the central circle with a hunter on horseback leaping over a lion(?) at his feet, above this is part of the clavus divided into three sections with a naked dancing figure, two confronting doves, and three running animals
