Details
THE CELLAR OF A EUROPEAN CONNOISSEUR
The following collection, 438-1061, represents the majority of wines from a superb Continental temperature and humidity controlled cellar. All wines were originally purchased with both private consumption and trading purposes in mind and have been shipped to Christie's warehouse specially for this sale. The sheer weight of Claret dominates the collection with vintages spanning from 1975 to 1993. First-Growths, super seconds, quality Saint-Emilions and excellent Pomerols are all represented in great numbers and in various bottle sizes from half-bottles to Imperials. Of particular note is the spectacular range of 1988 red Bordeaux representing 55 different Chateaux and a total of 419 cases - surely one of the widest selections of 1988s ever to appear commercially at auction. The latter part of this predominantly single case lot offering features a section of dry white Bordeaux and Sauternes, many again from the superb 1988 vintage.
