Audemars Piguet
More so than perhaps any other firm, Audemars Piguet is the story of two watchmaking families. Started in the Valle de Joux, the Audemars and Piguet families both worked as finishers supplying high-quality mechanisms to larger watch companies. In 1875, Jules Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet combined forces to form Audemars Piguet. They produced the first Grande Complication pocket watch in 1882, and the first split-second chronograph fitted with a dial designed by Audemars was sold in New York in 1892. In 1924, the first moon phase wristwatches with full perpetual calendar debuted, 1934 marked the production of the first hand-sculpted skeleton wristwatch. Throughout the later twentieth century, Audemars Piguet excelled at producing increasingly thin, flat wristwatches, including the first luxury sports watch, the Royal Oak, in 1972. Audemars Piguet remains one of the few watch companies that is still held by the families of their founding partners.

With nickel finished lever movement, 51 jewels, striking on two gongs, the skeletonised dial with applied Roman numerals on outer chapter ring, subsidiary seconds, the circular case with finely engraved bezel, band and extended lugs, setting slide in the band for Silent, Petite Sonnerie or Grande Sonnerie at 2, repeating mechanism activated by a button at 10, back secured by five screws, together with an engraved 18k pink gold Audemars Piguet buckle, case, dial and movement signed
