A pair of large Japanese Imari vases and covers

Each oviform with scalloped exterior, decorated in iron-red and gilt on underglaze blue with reserves depicting deer, figures, and formal village landscapes, surrounded by elaborate designs of scrolling flowers, foliage, and birds, the shoulders with dragon-form 'handles', the high domed covers similarly decorated with large Buddhistic lion finials, the base with a four-character mark
