Note:
- Wu Hufan in his colophon to this album attributes all six paintings to the Yuan artist Liu Guandao, and acording to his colophon, such attribution is without doubt. There are another four very similar fan leaves now in the Beijing Palace Museum that should form part of this set (see black and white images reprinted below, after Yuang ren Hua (Yuan Paintings), Beijing Wenwu Chubanshe, n.d., vol.2).
- A few leaves in this album were the subject of an interesting article by Ellen Johnston Liang in Oriental Art magazine. After describing the lavish settings and rich detail of upper class life of that set of four oval fans in the collection of the Beijing Palace Museum, she links three of the present pieces to the same set, which she titles Returning Home Drunk, Moving, and Watering Flowers (leaves c, b and e). The captions to these fans note, "present location unknown", so one may assume that the author was not aware of the entire album. Carefully observing such details as the sketchy, angled brushwork of the figures, a strong characteristic of the hand of Liu Guandao, Liang convincingly argues for a Yuan dynasty dating for the group.
