A MITSUA-E BON [TRAY DECORATED IN OIL AND LITHARGE PAINTING]
Edo Period (17th-18th Century)
Of square form with scalloped corners and red lacquer ground, decorated in mitsuda-e technique of oil and litharge painting in white, ochre, black, brown and red depicting seven children making a snowball beneath a tree, one levering it with a pole while the others pushing it in the opposite direction, two children engaging in a snowball fight, the border with scrolling foliage, the reverse black lacquer ground with four low scalloped bracket feet, restoration to one edge
