With nickel-finished lever movement, 18 jewels, the two-tone gilt matt dial with luminous accents to the applied dagger numerals, luminous hands, sweep centre seconds, centred by a gilt and black painted scene depicting St. Christopher carrying the Christ child on his shoulders, in tonneau-shaped water-resistant-type case with milled bezel, screw back and screw down crown, together with gilt Rolex buckle, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

The present watch has been submitted to Rolex Geneva for extended research and has been found authentic in all aspects.

During the 1940s and 1950s, Rolex, amongst other important manufacturers, have produced watches with cloisonné and polychrome enamel dials in very small quantities only. Plain silvered dials however with painted motives such as the present watch are virtually unknown.
