Lot Essay

To our best knowledge, this is the first time that this particular model is offered at auction with its original certificate and original fitted presentation box numbered 180'718. In addition, it is accompanied by the music sheet of the Patek Valsa, composed by F. Santini around 1912 for Patek Philippe's Brazilian retailer, Gondolo & Labouriau.

It is thought that only three other examples of this particular model are known today and that the present watch is the only one accompanied by its original certificate and box.

The present watch is furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming its production in 1913 and subsequent sale on 10 October 1924.

An example of the large Gondolo model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, p. 107, pl. 119.
