A FAMILLE ROSE 'HUNTING' PUNCH BOWL
Circa 1780
Finely enamelled on the exterior with two large shaped panels, one depicting two mounted huntsmen and a pack of hounds departing from a large imposing building amongst trees, the other with the two huntsmen at full gallop brandishing their whips, one blowing his horn, with the hounds in eager pursuit of the fox, which has climbed a tree, the panels divided by smaller cartouches of birds and iron-red landscape vignettes, all reserved on an iron-red and gilt Y-pattern ground, the interior with a large central roundel depicting a game-keeper with long stick and three hounds approaching a large bird, below an elaborate border of shaped lappets amongst scrolls, flowers and foliage and a narrow rope-twist band at the rim, rim hairlines
