JERROLD, Blanchard (1826-84). The Life of George Cruikshank in two Epochs, London: Chatto and Windus, 1882. 2 volumes bound in 4, 8° (187 x 125mm). Half title and frontispiece in vols. one & III, title in vol. one & III, title-vignette, each volume with an additional title of the extended version, 14 wood-engraved plates, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with 214 wood-engraved or lithographed plates, some mounted, some coloured. (A few plates browned.) Later red morocco by Bayntun, ruled in black and gilt with gilt corner pieces, Cruikshank's signature stamped in gilt on sides, spines with 5 raised bands, lettered in two compartments, the others ruled in gilt with foliate corner pieces, original binding bound in at end of vols. II and IV, a portrait of Cruikshank with his signature below stamped on cloth bound in at end of vol. one. FIRST EDITION, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH OVER 200 PLATES. A very attractive set. Cohn, p. 358.
