12° (130 x 70mm). Collation: *1-5 A-I12. Title in red and black, opening woodcut initials and headpieces. (Small nick to outer margin of title.) Contemporary black morocco gilt, possibly Scottish, the centre panel bordered by semi-circles of strawberries, the ground within the panel filled with a chain of flowers surrounded by stars, dots and acorns, borders with all-over gilt-tooling including large flower heads and roundels, gilt spine panels, edges gauffeured in gilt with an acorn tool. Provenance: Earl of Kinnoull (front pastedown inscribed 'Dupplin Castle Library' with shelf marks) -- 'W.B.B.' 'A.M.B.' (initials on modern bookplate) -- [Maggs Catalogue 1212, 1996, vol. I, no. 82, illustrated p. 151]. FIRST EDITION; and another binding of contemporary English black morocco gilt on Richard Allestree's The Ladies Calling (Oxford, 1693); this second binding sold not subject to return owing to internal condition of the book.
