A STAFFORDSHIRE SALTGLAZE 'KING OF PRUSSIA' TEAPOT AND COVER
Circa 1770
Of globular form with branch spout and handle, the shallow-domed cover with knop finial, the dark-manganese ermine-ground reserved on each side with lobed puce-edged cartouches, one with a portrait of the King to the left, wearing laurels and named above Fred.PrussiaeRex, the other with a crowned eagle and a sceptre flanked by palms and a ribbon inscribed Semper Sublimis (minute fritting to tip of spout)
Height: 3 7/8 in. (10 cm.)
