Lot Essay

When George VI came to the throne, he brought with him items of a personal nature and as a result many of the previous pictures had to make way for his own favorites. The King gave many of these items to senior palace staff and Commander Stone, an aquaintance of the present owner was given several watercolours, two of which are presented for sale in this lot.
