of circular form, decorated and incised with green, black and red lacquer depicting two scholars in a rocky pine-strewn landscape, all on a diaper ground, the sides carved with bands of stylised wave design, the interior and base in plain black lacquer, Xuande six charcter mark to the base -- 4½in. (11.5cm.) diam., wood box.
