A monumental inscription in Kingston records the death of 'Jean, daughter of Samuel Gregory of the town, born 30 November 1753, died 12 October 1776 erected by her husband Hugh Polson, Esquire'. Also a list of wills with Jamaican associations records the proving of a will in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury for a Hugh Polson on November 1794, however he is recorded to have been 'of Devon' at the time of his death.
