Lot Essay

The candelabra with sphinx-capped pillars relate to a bronze antiquity found at Herculaneum and exhibited in the Museum at Naples. Replicas of the Herculaneum candelabra feature in the 1910 catalogue of the bronze-founders Messrs J. Chiurazzi & Fils and D. De Angelis & Fils of Naples, no. 73033.
