A Zürich 'Turkish group' Circa 1770, blue Z .. mark, incised .iN.
Modelled with a soldier grasping a Turkish lady around the waist and pulling at a prisoner's ear with his right hand, the officer in a black tricorn hat, a silvered breast-plate over a green uniform with red cuffs, pale-yellow breeches and black boots, his right boot resting on a sabre, the kneeling man's wig sliding off, the lady wearing a gilt-flowered headdress, blouse and skirt and a striped apron, on a circular rockwork mound base (lady's left arm, soldier's right hand and kneeling man's head and left arm all probably ceramic replacements, lady's right hand damaged and restored, further minor small damages and restorations)

See the group in the Alfred Schwarzenbach Collection sold by Sotheby's Zürich on 7th May 1974, lot 94, which is very similar with the exception of the kneeling figure who wears a turban.
