Details
A Pair of Meissen teabowls and saucers
Circa 1725, gilder's 51. to all pieces, Dreher's to saucers and one teabowl
Probably painted by J.G. Höroldt with landscapes, one saucer with a view of Meissen with the Albrechtsburg above the covered bridge, the other with a lake with figures almost in silhouette in the foreground, each side of one teabowl with a view of a distant town across water, the other with figures before a river and a view of an obelisk by a tree in silhouette, all within shaped oval gilt line cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels and with gilt, iron-red and puce scrolls, the interiors with a circular chequered medallion of iron-red hatching alternating with puce flowerheads, the saucers and interiors of the teabowls with interlocking gilt scrollwork and dot borders (saucers with slight wear to cartouches, one with more extensive area of wear at 12 o'clock, very minor flaking to clouds on one saucer and slight rubbing to rims of teabowls) (2)
