A MIDSHIPMAN'S DIRK
First quarter of the 19th Century
With tapering blade of flattened diamond section fully etched on each side against a frosted ground with scrollwork and foliage involving a putto and a martial trophy, circular gilt-brass guard decorated in relief with oak leaves and acorns, turned ivory grip (minor crack) with gilt-brass collar and lion-mask pommel, and engraved gilt-copper scabbard (gilding worn) with later signature 'G. Banks/Plymouth/Dock'
