AN IMPERIAL GERMAN CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABRE
Late 19th Century, by Weyersberg & Co., Solingen
With slightly curved fullered blade etched for about half its length with foliate decoration, trophies, a profile portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II and crowned eagle with the inscription 'Mitt Gott für Kaiser und Reich', gilt-brass stirrup hilt (gilding worn) with cast decoration to knucklebow, the outer langet bearing crossed swords within a wreath below a crown, the inner langet with a blank escutcheon, ornate backstrap incorporating lion's head pommel inset with red glass eyes, fishskin grip bound with brass wire, and steel scabbard (heavily cleaned) with brass ring-bands
