                                            A DRESS-SWORD WITH CUT-STEEL HILT 
Early 19th Century
With slender blade of hollow triangular section decorated for over half its length from the hilt with etched and gilt scrolling foliage against a blued ground, the hilt (some surface rust) with pierced oval shell, a pair of quillons and a double string of cut-steel beads in place of a knuckle-guard, urn-shaped pommel, and steel grip decorated en suite with the rest of the hilt, in its original vellum-covered scabbard (broken) with reeded steel lockets, the upper one signed 'Odell, Manufacturer, 19 Old Bond St. London'
