A RARE PHILIPPINO (MORO) HALF-ARMOUR
19th Century
Of brass, comprising a burgonet and an associated armoured jacket, the burgonet made in two pieces curving up to a point at front and rear and with prominent roped comb, and engraved applied plume-holder at the front of the left side, the outer surfaces decorated with bands of ropework in relief, most of them enclosing panels incised with conventional foliage on a punched ground (ear-pieces missing), the jacket formed of horizontal rows of plates, two of them decorated with applied foliated scrolls of silvered copper (some losses), linked by butted copper rings (some missing), opening down the front, and with standing collar and short sleeves
