A RARE .295 GIFFARD (LONDON) 1889 PATENT BREECH-LOADING HAMMERLESS GAS RIFLE
No. 5055, circa 1890-95
With blued octagonal sighted barrel (fore-sight replaced) with matted top flat and back-sight with extra leaf, engraved blued action with loading aperture and chequered safety-catch (loose) on the upper side, the left side marked 'The Giffard Gun Company Limited London', blued cocking/loading lever, figured walnut butt (minor bruises), chequered grip, and engraved blued iron butt-plate, the gas cylinder numbered 5121 (the metal with some original finish, turning to brown apart from the barrel, and some surface rust and pitting)
