BRADBURY, Ray (b. 1920). 41 typed letters signed ("Ray Bradbury," "Ray B." and "Ray") and one telegram, to Hugh Hefner (2), A.C. Spectorsky (20), Murray Fisher, Jack Kessie, Arthur Kretchmer and the Circulation Department, Los Angeles, 16 February 1962-22 May 1972. Together 44 pages, most 4to, one with 6-line autograph postscript, one with xerox of screenplay to "Liviathan '99," many on Bradbury's personal stationery. With related carbon and typed correspondence relating to Bradbury.

1 August 1962: "I showed your letter to my wife and suggested I should run right off to Chicago and the Club. 'Like hell you will!' said she, simply. 'Like hell you will!' said my four daughters, also simply. So you see, old Dad is outnumbered."
17 August 1962: "About my new novel, which I'm deel into now... it is titled LEVIATHAN '99..."
4 September 1963: "The latest with me is that Truffaut will come to the U.S. to make FAHRENHEIT 451."
29 August 1966: "I've heard from your promotion dept that LOST CITY OF MARS will be in your end-of-the-year issue, and this made me think, somewhat worriedly, about the title. I have never been greatly taken with it, but couldn't think of a better one... Does anyone there have any titles knocking about which we might use?"
30 January 1972: "I love to tweak their noses [at university lectures] when I say, truly and honestly, the two best avant-garde magazines in America are PLAYBOY and MAD MAGAZINE. All hell breaks loose and I beam happily as I defend and win my case."
