Original cloth gilt (spine worn, inner hinges split). Provenance: Madoline Fanny Andrews (ownership inscription dated June 10, 1863; tipped-in letter from [?]Edmund S. Wailes presenting the book). T. B. MURRAY. An Alphabet of Emblems, London: Francis and John Rivington, 1844. Small 8° (159 x 189mm). 26 woodcuts. Original red cloth. The Floral Alphabet. [no imprint but ?London: J. Rodwell] [1860]. Small 4° (145 x 114mm). Woodcut title and 26 blocks, somewhat crudely hand-coloured. (One margin soiled.) Original yellow printed wrappers (waterstain at lower corner). With 12 other alphabet books, late 19th- and early 20th-century. (15)
