An English mahogany quarter-chiming longcase clock
The Gothic revival case with hood (damaged cresting) with six reeded columns with Corinthian capitals and pie-crust door frame, mock cluster columns to front and rear of the trunk, flanking tracery arch trunk door, the plinth with chamfered angles and on bracket feet, the 14in. wide brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, selection for bell/gong chime by 15, with subsidiary seconds ring to the centre, brass hands, rolling moon to the arch, the substantial eight day movement with anchor escapement, hour strike on gong and quarter chimes on four gongs or eight bells, back plate numbered 1473; associated, case late 18th century, movement late 19th/early 20th century -- 90in. (229cm.) high
