Lot Essay

This exquisite low table typifies Ruhlmann's use of luxurious veneers and refined ivory inlay. The two tiers are connected by six square section columnar supports enhanced with ivory details, and the model - which was produced in macassar ebony, ash, oak and amboyna - was prominently featured in the Grand Salon of the Hôtel du Collectionneur at the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs (reproduced above).
