Third edition and the first to appear with Loyola's name. "The 'Spiritual Exercises' form the most famous modern textbook on ascetic disipline, the nature of sin and Christian perfection by grace" (PMM). Ignatius of Loyola was the founder of the Jesuit Society and this text became with the Constitutiones the handbook of the Society which is devoted to educational, missonary, and other active works.
