Lot Essay

Boisselier studied with the Italian decorator Cieti and with Regnault. He won the prix de Rome in 1805 but as residence in Rome was only awarded every other year, he had to compete the following year and won again. The present drawing was executed in that year. He died in Rome in 1811.
