A PAIR OF SANTEE SIOUX BEADED HIDE AND CLOTH DOLLS
a male and female, each constructed of stuffed cotton and nylon, the soft leather heads with painted and modeled facial features and plaited cotton coiffures, the hands with machine-stitched fingers, wearing typical cotton and wool clothing with appliqued ribbonwork, hide moccasins, embellished with sequins and beads

Gifted to Mrs. Luke C. Walker, who gifted them to Elizabeth M. Clark. Through the Clark family by descent.
Further details
This lot is accompanied by a hand-written note, which states, "Pr. dolls by Mary Is Kind To Her Horses, Made Crow Creek, 1930," and a type-written note, which states in part, "These dolls were made by Mary Dupree ... the skirt on the woman doll was made from the dress which belonged to Mary Dupree's mother just before the Minnesota massacre in 1864."
