Lot Essay

Most likely made for Dr. William Walker of Hertfordshire, Doctor of Laws and Judge Advocate. The Chinese Imari service made for his friend Lord Somers, Solicitor General, Attorney General and then Lord Chancellor, displays in error the Walker sun crest. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., pp. 38, 73 and 177.
