Lot Essay

From the same series as a drawing of A seated bear, seen from behind (H.N. Opperman, Jean-Baptiste Oudry, New York and London, 1977, no. D742, fig. 430) and A badger sold recently in Paris. Possibly related to the small picture exhibited at the Salon of 1742 (no. 40) described as 'Autre petit Tableau, représentant un Lapin éclairé du Soleil, & une Jatte derriere; appartenant à M. De Dreux, Architecte'.
