Lot Essay

The sitter was born on the 6th August 1827 and died on the 17th August 1904. On the 14th April 1846 she married Moritz Count Saint Genuis (1816-1886).
The sentence on the reverse of the present lot is an excerpt from a poem by Friedrich Leopold Graf zu Stolberg (1750-1819) and reads "Der Geist lechzet nach Wahrheit/Wie das Herz nach Liebe".
