An unusual brass Islamic armillary sphere
Anonymous, 19th century.
The 2 inch (5.1 cm.) diameter celestial globe at the centre with the ecliptic and equatorial graduated, held on a central axis inclined at an angle of approximately 230, within six concentric meridians on the same axis, all with engraved graduations on one side only in Arabic, the outer ring with 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter brass sunball mounted at the top of the central axis, the whole raised on a baluster turned column and plinth base.
