A Sèvres-style composite garniture
of two vases and a clock, the clock painted with a central panel of figures in 18th century dress in a rural landscape and other panels of flowers and trophies within 'jewelled' borders reserved on a turquoise-ground, the dial painted with cherubs, inscribed with the maker's mark MACKAY CUNNINGHAM & CO., EDINBURGH and fronting a circular brass movement striking on a bell, the vases oviform with tall flared fluted necks, carrying decoration similar to that of the clock, with gilt bronze caryatid handles and set on square-section bronze plinths, the rims and footrims with metal mounts, the vases -- 19in. (48.3cm.) high, 19th century (some fittings lacking to clock, some 'jewels' lacking overall, slight wear)
