Depicting Charles Fox, William Mansfield, Robert Adam, The Reverend James Struthers and three others; respectively inscribed 'Charles Fox WEDGWOOD', 'ROBERT ADAM ARCHITECT DIED 3 MARCH 1742 IN HIS 64 YEAR. Tassie F', 'JAMES STRUTHERS 1807 Tassie F.' also '...UNI AEQUUS VIRTUTI Tassie ..1779..', 'F M' and 'WEDGWOOD'; with further descriptive labels to the reverse of three; each under glass; seven in wood frames and one in plaster frame.

Lot Essay

James Tassie (1735-1798) was an eminent Scottish medallist who moved to London in 1766 and established himself as the leading supplier of portrait medallions of famous contemporaries in the antique manner. Many of his subjects were also Scottish, like Robert Adam.
