The dished rectangular seat covered in gros point floral needlework, the legs joined by turned stretchers, with castors, redecorated, the stretchers possibly replaced

Lot Essay

This stool is based on a design published in The London Chairmakers' and Carvers' Book of Prices, 1823, pl. 4, no. 1.
A similar X-frame stool was sold by the executors of the late Jonathan Vickers, The Old Vicarage, West Malling, Kent, Christie's South Kensington, 23 September 1998, lot 605.
