CHARLES II, King of England (1660-1685) and PEPYS, Samuel (1633-1703). Document signed (by the King at the head, and by Pepys at the foot), an order to Captain Booth, Commander of the Swiftsure, Whitehall, 26 December 1673, 2 pages, folio, integral blank, contemporary endorsement on verso (slightly browned, worn at edges and in folds of 2nd leaf, professionally repaired, silked).

Document signed (by the King at the head, and by Pepys at the foot), an order to Captain Booth, Commander of the Swiftsure, Whitehall, 26 December 1673, 2 pages, folio, integral blank, contemporary endorsement on verso (slightly browned, worn at edges and in folds of 2nd leaf, professionally repaired, silked).

A warrant, issued during the Third Dutch War, for Captain Booth to proceed, with the Roserie and the Faulcon to accompany British ships bound for Oporto and Figuera and, their convoys completed, to Cadiz and Tangier; and then 'the generall service being performed' to send them back to Lisbon to load for England, instructing him not to anchor at Lisbon but to send in for intelligence on enemy shipping.
