An Edwardian carved mahogany quarter-chiming longcase clock, early 20th century.
The substantial case with openwork cresting, glazed trunk door with applied mouldings, flanked by foliate carved and spiral-fluted columns, the plinth centred by a lion mask within a cartouche panel, the gilt-brass cartouche-shaped dial with engraved foliate trellis-work mask to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the centre engraved with a basket and flowers, with subsidiary seconds ring and blued steel hands, the arch with subsidiary chime/silent and Westminster/Whittington selection rings, the substantial three train movement with dead beat escapement, quarter-chiming on eight tubular bells and hour striking on further tubular bell, the wood rod pendulum with brass lenticular bob -- 107¾in. (273cm.) high
