A patchwork coverlet, comprising a series of hexagonal and square ochre and cream linens, possibly a 'Friendship Cloth', the central panel embroidered in grey and ochre silks with a coat of arms below a cross and titled 'Spalding 1895', reserved against a series of hexagonals and squares embroidered predominantly in ochre and grey silks with spot motifs including birds, flowers and initials, the central panel backed with a cotton twill--96 x 64in. (243 x 162cm.), English circa 1895, some damage; and a crewelwork hanging, worked in coloured wools to a linen ground with an exotic bird amidst foliage and squirrel to the foreground, lined and interlined--82 x 40in.
